Easing into Clean
So, for the past week or more I've been kind of easing my body into the program. Researching what I WILL be eating so I'm not so focused on what I'm NOT eating. Also doing things like really getting down and reading a lot of labels around the house, minimizing my contact with chemicals and toxins. This has meant tossing some of my once favorite items like shower gel and body cream. I'm also looking in to better makeup choices and in the interim just really not wearing much of it at all. I've made my own "body butter" using coconut and olive oils, and found a good recipe for a hair detangler that I use on my girls. Changed my toothpaste to a more natural one containing baking soda and propolis, made house cleaner out of white vinegar and citrus peels. You get the idea.
One of the other things that the program recommends is a 12 hour fast at night. So if I eat dinner at 6pm, I won't be eating again until at least 6 in the morning. The reason for this is 8 hours after you last eat, your body goes into it's own little cleaning mode. (Cool, right?) It's estimated that it takes a good 4 hours for your body to do a full sweep. I believe it because the first few nights I did this, I'd wake up in a full sweat in the middle of the night.
Ultimately I will work towards having one solid meal at midday, following the cleanse guidelines. My breakfast and dinner will be either blended soups or juices- my choice. This is meant to up the detox that your body is already doing while providing extra nutrients and enzymes.
